A Reminder that Politicians Only Know Politics

If you are like me you are mad as hell at Our Nance and Chuck the Schmuck and you are not going to take it any more.

But think of things from their point of view, particular from what they know.

What they know is campaigns, fundraising, and dealing with left-wing activist groups. And as I say, "politics is division." Also, "politics is civil war by other means."

They say that Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is the world's foremost expert at getting to a microphone first. And Nancy Pelosi must have some finely-honed skills related to getting to be Speaker of the House of Representatives and recruiting nice moderate Democratic candidates for moderate suburban Congressional Districts and jiggering around with fundraising and liberal activist groups.

But think about it. All they have come up with in the Four Years of Trump is witch-hunts and investigations. Really! That is all that you chaps could come up with!

When the Republican Senate was coming up with a $2 trillion stimulus bill Our Nance was back in California. Then she came back and demanded a bill that included lots of money and carve-outs for the activism community, making a priority out of diversity. Of course she did. That's all she knows.

And Chuck the Schmuck? He's busy blaming President Trump for everything. Of course he is. That's all he knows.

Meanwhile, today, President Trump is announcing the first "checks in the mail" in the government's small business rescue plan. 'Cos that's all he knows.

Some people are despondent because they see the China virus panic as another opportunity for the left to ratchet up government power. And put the country even further under centralized administrative control.

On the other hand others are despondent because they fear that the noble supra-national experiments like global trade and the EU are going to get a hammer blow from which they will never recover.

My approach is that the Great Reaction of the left over the last two centuries has been reaching its sell-by date for some time. Something, some day, is going to push it into the dustbin of history. Will this be it? Probably not. But it might create some cracks in the monolith.

I look at politicians like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer and see people playing the old game, because that is what they know. I see the progressive left playing its political correctness game because that is what they have been carefully taught and that is what they know. And of course we have all the Good Little Girls in HR doing what they have been carefully taught and that is what they know. The reason that the tech lords at Google have been siding with the Democrats and silencing the "far-right" on social media is because that is what they have been carefully taught and what they know.

And the Oregon Court of Appeals upholds the conviction of a "far-right" journalist Mike Strickland who brandished a gun at "far-left" mostly peaceful protesters that were attacking him. Because that's all those appeals court judges know.

We humans go on doing what we know until our world collapses in front of us, according to scientists.

So we "far-right" racist-sexist-homophobes should be careful what we wish for. It's all very well to hope for "change," as our lefty friends say. But when "change" happens it also means that anything can happen.

And, when you think of all the things that could happen you have to know that most of them would be worse than the current situation.

So, the politicians, especially the late 70-something politicians, only know what they know. And so they do what they know.

Will they go on doing what they know until they pass on? Or will they be pushed?

I suppose it is up to us voters.

What I think, and nobody cares what I think, is that the current ruling Gentry class is not good for us Commoners, because they are setting rules for us that don't apply to them, because they are special.

I don't know that a ruling class that rules in the interest of Commoners would necessarily be good for America, or even good for Commoners. But as H.L. Mencken said, we Commoners would then at least be getting what we voted for, "good and hard."
