Hey, it’s worked in the past. When Hillary Clinton played the helpless woman in the campaign for the Senate in 2000, it worked. When she wore Pretty in Pink to blame a right-wing conspiracy for her husband’s political problems, it worked.
So why shouldn’t she blame the boys for ganging up on her?
And who cares that Hillary is no Margaret Thatcher? Peggy Noonan reminds us about the Iron Lady.
[Thatcher] represented a movement. She was its head. She was great figure, a person in history, and she was a woman.
Hillary is different. In fact the entire reason for her campaign is that she could be the historic First Woman President of the United States. Otherwise her campaign is about keeping the gravy-train going for the next generation of slacker liberals.
I say, You Go Girl. I believe that 2008 is going to be a bad year for Republicans, what with the mortgage meltdown, surging inflation, and a recession and all.
The best thing that Republicans can do is elect a Democrat with seriously deficient political skills. Elect another FDR and he could show the Republican Party the door.
But Hillary. Well, she is certainly no Bill Clinton in the political skills department.
And when the welfare state hits the buffers it would help if the Democrats had a leader who didn’t have the political skills to get out of the way.
